Where to Stay in Milos, Greece: Best Hotels, Areas, & More

There are very few trips where I regretted staying in the area that I chose, but Milos was one of those rare cases!

When my best friend and I spent 3 days on Milos, we chose to stay in the Paliochori Beach area. It turns out, this is not the most central nor the most convenient area to stay on the island (though it ended up working out for us perfectly!).

There are several other areas around Milos to choose from that are more central, better connected, and have more going on in the evenings.

This is the guide I wish I had before visiting Milos to help understand the layout of the island and which area (and which hotel) was right for me!

A Quick Look at the Island of Milos

Don’t have a lot of time? Here’s a quick guide to the island of Milos to help plan your epic adventure!

Where to Stay:
Hotel Rigas (Adamantas)
Salt Suites (Pollonia)
Artemis Deluxe Rooms (Paliochori)
Read my full guide on Where to Stay!

When to Visit:
– I recommend shoulder season (Early May or late September)
– Summer (June – August) is peak season
– Winter is off season and not recommended

Things to Do:
– Explore the beautiful beaches!
– Take a boat tour to Kleftiko
– Wander through the adorable towns

Overview of the Island of Milos

Milos is part of the Cyclades island chain in the Aegean Sea — the same group of islands as Santorini, Mykonos, and Paros.

At around 60 square miles, it’s actually larger than most of its more famous neighbors, but don’t let that discourage you.

Most of what you’ll want to see and do is concentrated on the eastern half of the island, and getting around is very manageable with an ATV or rental car (more on that in the next section).

Unlike Santorini, where most people stay in one of the cliffside villages, Milos has several distinct areas that each feel completely different from one another.

Where you stay will shape your whole trip!!

Here’s a quick look at the main areas of Milos, who they’re best for, and my top hotel picks in each one 👇🏼

Getting Around Milos

Before you decide where to stay on Milos, it’s worth understanding how you’ll get around and where you want to visit on the island.

Unlike Santorini, where you can survive on buses if you’re staying in Oia or Fira, Milos has very limited public transportation. If you plan to explore the beaches, fishing villages, and other spots around the island, you will need your own wheels.

My recommendation: rent an ATV while on Milos! We rented ours through Apollonas Sunshine, and it was one of the best decisions of the trip.

The roads are well-paved, the signs are clear, and even if you’ve never driven an ATV before (I hadn’t!), it’s totally manageable.

They’ll even deliver and pick up the ATV from your hotel, which is a huge plus if you have massive bags like we did (oops). Check out my Greek Islands packing list for more details on what we brought (and what you don’t need!).

A rental car works too if you’d prefer something more enclosed, but automatics are limited, so definitely book your rental car in advance! 🚙

Scooters are an option too, but I’d personally steer clear of them, as they’re easier to lose control of and crashes are more common.

What this means for where you stay: if you’re renting an ATV or car, you’ll have full flexibility to explore and can stay anywhere on this list!

If you’re not planning to rent a vehicle, I’d stay in Adamantas, especially if you are arriving by ferry. It also has plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and most boat tours leave from here too!

💡 Note: All rental agencies will ask for an International Driving Permit — this is different from your regular driver’s license. You can get one from AAA for around $20 before your trip. Where to Stay in Milos: Breakdown by Area

Now that you have a feel for the island and how to get there, let’s get into the different areas and the best places to stay on Milos!

Note: If you are planning a trip to Milos for summer, I highly recommend booking your accommodation as early as possible! The most popular hotels on the island can book up 6+ months in advance!

Adamantas (Adamas): The Port

Adamantas, or sometimes called just Adamas, is the main port town of Milos. If you arrive on Milos via ferry, you will arrive in Adamantas! (Check out my full guide on How to Get to Milos here).

Because it is a port town, Adamantas is the most bustling area of Milos, full of different restaurants, shops, and hotels.

If you want to be in the middle of the action, Adamantas is the place to stay!

The busy port of Adamantas

It’s also the primary departure point for the top boat tours on Milos, which is nice if your tour doesn’t include a hotel pick-up option.

Adamantas has a scenic promenade that offers panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll, and it’s also a great place to watch the sunset.

In fact, just outside Adamantas is Papikinou Beach. The water is extremely calm at this beach, making it a popular place for families and children. We stopped here around sunset and were blown away by the gorgeous views of the harbor.

Several sailboats anchored in calm blue water in Adamantas with hazy mountains in the background near the coast of Milos. Soft evening light reflects across the sea.

Hotels in Adamantas

🏨 Anita Rooms & Suites — Best Budget-Friendly Pick

📍 Location: Central Adamantas, between the port and the beach
💰 Price range: $$ (~$200/night peak, less in shoulder season)
Best for: Budget-conscious travelers who still want charm and comfort
🌟 Highlight: Private terrace in every room, breakfast delivered, walking distance to everything

If you want to stay in Adamantas without overspending, Anita Rooms & Suites is the pick. It’s perfectly positioned between the port and the beach, and walking distance from all the restaurants, shops, and tour departures in town.

The rooms are clean, bright, and very Greek, with white walls, blue accents, and plenty of natural light.

Every room has a private terrace, and breakfast is served there each morning. It’s locally owned, and Anita herself is often around and genuinely lovely, according to just about every review!

Onsite parking is also a bonus if you’re renting a car or ATV.

🏨 Civitas Milos — Best Luxury Pick

📍 Location: Adamantas, short walk from the port
💰 Price range: $$$
Best for: Couples, anyone wanting an adults-only splurge
🌟 Highlight: Private plunge pools with cabana beds on every balcony

If you want to treat yourself in Adamantas, Civitas Milos looks absolutely dreamy!!! It’s a small, adults-only boutique hotel with only 6 rooms, but I personally think that adds to the charm.

But what makes this hotel special is that each room has its own plunge pool and cabana bed right on the balcony, with sprawling sea views!! So incredible!

The only potential con is that there’s no breakfast or on-site restaurant, so you’ll have to head into town for meals. However, there are plenty of options within walking distance in Adamantas.

Pollonia: Lively Beach Town

Located on the northeast tip of Milos, Pollonia is a charming fishing village with a sandy beach, waterfront tavernas, and some of the best hotels on the island.

It’s quieter and more polished than Adamantas, with a lovely village feel, including a protected bay perfect for swimming.

Calm clear water and fishing boats lining the sandy shoreline in Pollonia, Milos. White waterfront buildings and restaurants sit beneath a cloudless blue sky.
The shores of Pollonia Beach on Milos

The restaurant scene is also a great reason to stay here over other areas! Akrotiri Restaurant is one of the most popular spots on the island and definitely worth a dinner reservation.

There’s also Opsidianos Art Bar, one of the few late-night bars on Milos, if you’re after an evening drink.

Pollonia is the closest main village to some of the best beaches on Milos (Sarakiniko and Papafragas are both under 15 minutes away). If beach-hopping, especially along the northern side of the island, is a priority, this is the best base for your stay!

Pollonia is also the departure point for the ferry to the nearby island of Kimolos, if you want to add a day trip.

The main trade-off vs. Adamantas is that Pollonia is smaller, with fewer shops, fewer options in the evening, and less of a “town” feel. But for most travelers, that’s actually a draw rather than a downside!

Hotels in Pollonia

🏨 Salt Suites — Best Value Luxury Pick

📍 Location: Pollonia, right on the sea
💰 Price range: $$ (rooms available under $200/night even in peak season!)
Best for: Couples who want a luxurious feel without the luxury price tag
🌟 Highlight: Sea-view balconies, some rooms with hot tubs, daily breakfast included

Salt Suites is definitely where I will be staying the next time I visit Milos! Mostly because it looks so luxe but doesn’t come with an insane price tag.

The rooms are bright and airy with balconies that look directly out to the sea. Some rooms even have a hot tub on the balcony!!

There’s no on-site pool, but the hotel sits right on the water and has a lovely lounge area outside where you can sit with a drink and watch the sea.

Breakfast is included and delivered to your room each morning!

So if you want that luxury feel in Pollonia without spending $500+ a night, Salt Suites is the perfect option.

🏨 Milos Breeze Boutique Hotel — The Splurge Pick (and My Bucket List Stay)

📍 Location: Pollonia, perched on a cliff above the village
💰 Price range: $$$$ (~$600/night in peak season)
Best for: Honeymooners, special occasions, anyone looking for the full hotel experience
🌟 Highlight: Infinity pool with panoramic sea views, on-site restaurant, outdoor jacuzzis on select balconies

I’ve seen the Milos Breeze Boutique Hotel alllll over Instagram – it’s one of the spots that put Milos on the map for me! And it looks absolutely incredible.

Perched on a cliff above Pollonia, it has some of the most dramatic views on the entire island, especially from the massive infinity pool that looks out over the seas.

Some rooms also have outdoor jacuzzis on their balconies.

The on-site bar and restaurant is one of the best in Milos, and daily breakfast is included with your stay. So unlike other spots, you’re fully taken care of here — no need to head into town unless you want to (which you should of course!).

Yes, it’s expensive. But if there’s ever a place to splurge, a cliffside infinity pool in the Greek Islands is a pretty good place to do so. This one is definitely on my bucket list for next time!

Paliochori: Quiet but Gorgeous

Tucked away on the southeastern coast of Milos lies the picturesque seaside village of Paliochori (also spelled Paleochori), renowned for its stunning beach, thermal springs, and dramatic cliffs.

This is personally where we stayed while visiting Milos; however, I didn’t realize just how “off-the-beaten” this area is.

Paliochori is tucked away from the main roads and towns of Milos. The area is not very walkable like Adamantas or Pollonia, so keep that in mind if you decide to stay here!

While most of the top things to do on Milos are located on the northwest side of the island, Paliochori is a good launching point for some of the southern beaches like Tsigrado and Firiplaka!

Sandy shoreline and calm turquoise water at Paliochori Beach in Milos surrounded by colorful rocky cliffs. Beach umbrellas and visitors relax along the coast under a sunny sky.
The red cliffs and blue water of Paliochori Beach

If you are looking to be on a beautiful beach away from the crowds, this is the perfect spot for you!

Note: Greece is not known for its sandy beaches, thanks to the volcanic substrata! However, the tiny pebbles at Paliochori aren’t too bad on your feet. But if you’re looking for a sandy beach, check out Firiplaka Beach.

One of Paleochori’s most unique attractions is its natural thermal springs. Fed by underground hot springs, the mineral-rich waters are believed to have therapeutic properties.

In addition, the nearby restaurant Sirocco uses the thermal activity to cook a variety of dishes on its menu! We had dinner here one night, and I’m still dreaming about the freshly cooked fish and lemon potatoes.

Hotels in Paliochori

🏨 Artemis Seaside Resort — Our Pick

📍 Location: Paliochori Beach, right on the water
💰 Price range: $$$
Best for: Beach lovers, couples, anyone who wants to wake up steps from the sea
🌟 Highlight: Direct beach access, infinity pool, incredible staff

This is where we stayed during our 3 days on Milos, and we absolutely loved it.

The Artemis Seaside Resort is located right on Paliochori Beach — you can literally walk out of your room and be on the sand in under 2 minutes!

When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted with a delicious welcome drink (always a good sign). The cave-style rooms were clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for my best friend and me!

My favorite part of the resort was the dreamy pool and beach access. You have both an infinity pool overlooking the sea, and then right there are the steps down to the beach.

When staying at Artemis, you get free access to their comfy cabana beds right on the beach. You can even order drinks from their bar through a server too.

We started every morning with breakfast in the large, airy dining room and also had dinner there one night too!

Overall, we loved our stay at the Artemis. BUT if I were to return to Milos, I’d pick a more central location like Pollonia where we could be walking distance to other restaurants, shops, etc.

Plaka: A Tiny Hilltop Village

Plaka is a small town on the northwest tip of the island, perched on a hill overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Plaka is the cultural and historical hub of Milos, and its habitation goes back to the Neolithic era. In fact, it’s the place where the world-famous Venus de Milo statue was found!

The town of Plaka is exactly what you’d picture a Greek town to look like, with its whitewashed buildings, blue doors, and bougainvillea flowers decorating the cobblestone streets.

In fact, the narrow streets of Plaka are pedestrian-only, and motorized vehicles are not allowed in Plaka!

One of the most popular things to do in Plaka is watch the sunset, thanks to its high vantage point on the island. You can head to the Venetian Castle of Milos or the Church of Panagia Korfiatissa for the best views!

If you’re into spooky things, you can also check out the Catacombs of Milos, located on the outskirts of Plaka on the way to Klima.

When we visited Plaka in early June, it was super quiet! We were the only ones around walking the streets. However, I’m sure it gets busier as the summer goes on.

Hotels in Plaka

🏨 Halara Studios — Best for Small Groups & Long Stays

📍 Location: 5-minute uphill walk from Plaka village
💰 Price range: $$
Best for: Small groups, families, or anyone wanting a self-catering setup
🌟 Highlight: Sunset views from your window, shared terrace, apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes

Halara Studios is a small, intimate property — just a handful of rooms — which gives it a much more personal feel than a traditional hotel.

The studios are apartment-style with kitchenettes, perfect if you want the flexibility to cook your own meals or stay for more than a couple of nights.

The standout here is the location. A 5-minute uphill walk from Plaka puts you just far enough from the village bustle, with stunning sunset views right from your balcony or window.

There’s also a shared terrace that’s perfect for evening drinks as the sun goes down over the Aegean.

They have a two-bedroom apartment option, which makes this one of the few places on Milos that works well for groups or families traveling together.

🏨 Plaka Suites — Top-Rated

📍 Location: Heart of Plaka, 2-minute walk to restaurants
💰 Price range: $$$
Best for: Couples, groups, anyone wanting a unique stay with sunset views
🌟 Highlight: Cliffside Aegean views, cave-style rooms, select studios with outdoor hot tubs

Plaka Suites is tucked into the Cycladic alleyways right in the heart of Plaka village, which means you get the charm of being central.

And without any of the noise, since it sits on a quiet street! The shops and restaurants of Plaka are two minutes away on foot.

The rooms are built into the cliffside and blend traditional cave-style architecture with contemporary details, which make for a dreamy stay!

There are 9 rooms total here, including studios, suites, and one and two-bedroom apartments. Some studios have outdoor hot tubs on the terrace, and most rooms look out over the Aegean with sunset views that are hard to beat anywhere on the island!

Plaka Suites comes highly rated but is still reasonably priced, so it’s a great option if you decide to stay in Plaka.

Klima: Sleepy Beachfront Village

Klima is a tiny fishing village tucked down a winding road just below Plaka on the western coast of Milos.

It’s not really a practical home base, as there are no shops, no bars, and very limited accommodation options. But for those who want a quiet and off-the-beaten-path experience on Milos, Klima is perfect!

The village is famous for its syrmata, aka the colorful boathouses built right at the water’s edge, with their bright blue, red, and yellow garage doors opening directly onto the sea.

Many of these have been renovated into unique places to stay, which is what makes Klima special as an accommodation choice. Waking up with the Aegean literally lapping at your doorstep is a one-of-a-kind experience!!

The sunset views from Klima are also some of the best on the island, and if you stay here, you don’t have to fight for a spot at the Venetian Castle or jostle with crowds.

Just sit outside and watch the sun go down over the water!

We visited Klima specifically to see the boathouses and have a lovely sunset dinner at the only on-site restaurant – Astakas. This ended up being one of my favorite meals from our one week in Greece. I am still thinking about the fresh ceviche and Greek wine!

Even if you’re not staying in Klima, it’s worth making the drive down for dinner at least once during your trip!

Hotels in Klima

So, there are no traditional “hotels” in Klima. Every place to stay here is a converted syrmata — the iconic colorful boathouses the village is famous for.

The main difference between your options comes down to how much original character vs. modern comfort you want!

White fishing houses with colorful doors and balconies sitting beside calm turquoise water in Klima, Milos. Rocky cliffs rise behind the quiet seaside village.

On the more authentic end, this Traditional Syrma has been gently upgraded, but still feels like a real boathouse, with a kitchen, dining area, bed, and small bathroom.

There are a few options like this in Klima, and they typically cost around $200/night.

However, if you’d prefer something more comfortable and upscale, Klima Bay Beachfront Boutique Houses is another option.

These villas look like traditional boathouses from the outside (but with newer materials and fresher paint jobs). The interiors, however, are fully renovated and feel much more modern.

There are one and two-bedroom options, plus private terraces with lounge chairs outside each room. They also include a freshly prepared Mediterranean breakfast from a local restaurant.

Prices for these boutique boathouses range from around $200 in shoulder season up to $600+ for larger rooms in peak summer.
