And oh boy, the food is a real treat: an all-you-can-eat buffet that features island favorites like kalua pig and fresh poke. The luau starts with a traditional imu ceremony where they reveal the contents of the underground oven. Note: Not all luaus include this! General admission tickets also include a full open bar.
Why is it one of the best luaus on the Big Island? It’s a perfect blend of fantastic food, ocean views, and unreal performances – a true Hawaiian celebration that checks all the boxes for an epic luau experience. There’s a reason they call it the most authentic luau on the Big Island!

However, you can also just book the show package, plus coffee and dessert, and skip dinner if you want to lower the price! In terms of alcohol, the general admission ticket includes one complimentary Mai Tai .

Marriott King Kamehameha’s Beach Hotel

Imagine indulging in a buffet with island favorites, surrounded by the tropical beauty of the beach. It has even been voted the Best of West Hawaii since 2000!
In addition, the luau takes place on the grounds of King Kamehameha the Great’s former estate. How cool is that?
What sets it apart? The performances, hands down. Including traditional hula dancers and the sound of Polynesian music creates a truly immersive experience.
Oh, plus there’s an open bar! You can also purchase their Ali’i package for $30 more per person which includes expedited check-in, front row seating, a lei, and a welcome cocktail.
Royal Kona Resort

The Voyagers of the Pacific takes places on the large lawn in front of the Royal Kona Resort, overlooking the ocean with incredible sunset views. The show includes dances and stories from the many South Pacific Islands which tell the story of ancient culture. It includes with an epic Samoan fire knife dance finale! Overall, the show was really good but a little low-key.
In terms of food, you’ll be treated to an all-you-can-eat buffet, including traditional roasted pig, teriyaki beef, and fresh-catch fish. In addition, a full-bar is included, including mai tais, well drinks, wine, and beer, or premium cocktails and wine available for an additional cost!
